Recent Acquisitions
Nangara had grown to over 350 works of art by 1995 and was
fully documented and illustrated in a 300 page, two volume,
three language catalogue.
All works acquired after 1995 are “recent acquisitions”.
They include :
- never before exhibited early works on board by famous
artists such as Johnny Warangkula Tjupurrula and Anatjarri
Tjakamarra
- the first 150 works by octogenarian artist Minnie Pwerle
- the first 150 works by Kimberley artist Heather “Anjolu”
Umbagai
- the “night watch” of Aboriginal art by Clifford
Possum Tjapaltjarri, Warlugurlong 1977, measuring 385
x 220cm
- Emily Kame Kngwarreye’s critically acclaimed “last
series” works, completed shortly before her death
on 2nd September 1996.
